A year ago I bought an early bird Ticket for
Eroticon 2019. I was looking forward to a year of improving my writing and
stretching my wings through my blog, but... silence fell for much of the year,
so that isn't quite what happened.
Suffice it to say, as many of your know from your
own experiences, life can be a real bitch and just when you think you have
plans, things change.
By Christmas I'd managed to sort out the barrister,
psychologist and government ombudsman needed to sort out the mess, but had lost
the confidence to even tiptoe into Wicked Wednesday, my favourite starting
prompt.
Knowing I had this weekend on the horizon gave me
something to work towards. In the past few weeks, little pieces of writing have
started to accumulate in the Alethea section of my laptop and I have lifted the
internet filters enough to visit some of my favourite bloggers and peep into
the lives of people I've met before in London. The meet and greets are great as
they give me confidence I will know someone on the Friday night. Please come
and talk to me.
NAME (and Twitter if you have one)
Alethea Hunt, but generally I answer to Allie, and
can be found (when I regain my confidence to tweet) @AletheaAlone
Tell us 3 things you are most looking forward to at Eroticon 2019
- Meeting up with the lovely tribe I've met at Eroticon. It is often said in blogs before and after the event, but should never be understated- you are the most lovely crowd I have ever met.
- Not having to edit myself for a whole weekend. Everywhere else I go, there is always part of me I leave in the box, but this one weekend in London, I can be the whole complicated lot.
- The speakers... wow...I could go to every talk. Twice.
We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song.
It's a Sin... Pet Shop
Boys.
It's how I've felt most of this year, but damn it,
2019 is a new year.
What is your favorite item or book you’ve purchased so far this year?
I've always had a thing about nipple piercings but
never had the nerve to do anything. I shared this fantasy with my lovely man a
little while ago and for my birthday last summer he bought me jewellery and
later in the year I completed my research and went for it. I'd always seen this
as part of the reclaiming of my body after having children (and years of
breastfeeding) and it does feel empowering...well it did until my six year old
daughter (autistic and with a stream of consciousness rather than conversation)
shared them with, among other people, her teacher, my mum, our au pairs and the
minister at church. A month of fielding questions about my perceived mid life
crisis was a bit embarrassing. Oops. Still my favourite thing though, even if
technically they were a present.
You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for
the rest of your life, what is it? Sushi? Scotch Tape?
I would love to have time... but actually I would
like to be more efficient and for that I need someone to keep me on track. Or
people, because I'm a bit of a full time job. I work best under instruction.
There's currently a vacancy... so someone to fill that would be nice.
What is your favourite quote from a movie?
I'm currently re-watching Bluestone 42 (BBC army comedy) and it delivers sharp line after sharp line. It's making it impossible to thinks of quotes from anywhere else.
Nick: "I don't know why we have to clear compounds at 5am."
Towerblock: "You know the drill.
It is a time of our own choosing."
Nick:
"It's not the time of my choosing. I'd choose teatime, after a wank
and a scone."
Towerblock: "Boss, I know you went
to boarding school, but that's not what a cream tea is."
What is your word suggestion to next years Eroticon anthology?
Power.
Complete the sentence:
I feel… hopeful...maybe...
